Pastor Matt Shapton, a seasoned pastor and former Master Electrician and Building Contractor, brings a unique journey and passion to The Community Church in Babcock Ranch, Florida. A Michigan native, he served in the U.S. Navy before responding to a new calling as a “second-career Pastor.” Ordained in 2020 by the Florida-Bahamas Synod of the ELCA, Pastor Matt’s ministry emphasizes Creation Care, fostering sustainability and ecumenical relationships. He holds a Masters Degree in Divinity with a concentration in Mission Development from Wartburg Theological Seminary. Pastor Matt envisions a collective human family, emphasizing the joy of life lived together.
