Grace Alone. Faith Alone. Scripture Alone.
The Community Church is a mission and ministry of the ELCA (Evangelical Lutheran Church in America). Our teachings are drawn from The Bible.
The Bible
We believe The Bible is God’s inspired word pointing us to the truth of God’s love and grace for all of creation through the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
At The Community Church our sources of teaching are both Old Testament and New Testament. We look to the Gospels to direct our lives as we Lead With Love through the teachings of Jesus Christ. We use the NRSV and NLT Translations and also reference The Message paraphrase for some applications.
But these are written so that you may continue to believe that Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of God, and that through believing you may have life in his name. John 20:31
The Trinity
We believe in one God in Trinity, three in one and one in three. One God, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. One God, our creator, redeemer, and sustainer. We believe that God came down to earth in the person of Jesus Christ for our salvation. We believe that Jesus Christ will return and until He does, the Holy Spirit is at work in and through those who are drawn to and love Jesus Christ.
Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” (John 14:6)
The Creeds
We look to three creeds to confess our faith: the Apostles’ Creed, the Nicene Creed, and the Athanasian Creed. These creeds give us the chance to confess together as one body.
These written documents were created from the early church to clarify our understanding of the true identity and character of Jesus Christ. They affirm that God is fully present in Jesus, that Jesus Christ is both fully God and fully man.
The Gift of Grace
We believe that God’s Grace is for all people. We believe that we are not called to judge or condemn, but to Lead with Love. We believe we are called to show and share the gift of God’s Grace with ALL people, and yes, ALL means ALL!
He said to him, “ ‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the greatest and first commandment. And a second is like it: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ 40 On these two commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets.” Matthew 22: 37 – 40
The World
We believe our Christian lives are about sharing the light of Jesus Christ that is within us. We believe our Christian lives are about serving and caring for the human family and creation.
He has told you, O mortal, what is good; and what does the Lord require of you but to do justice, and love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God? Micah 6:8
